- FAQ
1. Open the "Let's secure your iXpole account!" email
When an administrator generates your log in credentials, the iXpole Back Office will send an email to the email address that the administrator used as your userID.
In this email you will be invited to complete the registration process to log in to iXpole for the first time. In the email click on the link that invites you to set your password
Note:Remember the email address this email was sent to as it will be your UserID for the iXpole Back ofice from now on!
2. Set your password
When you click the link in the email to set your password, you will be redirected to an internet page where you can set your password.
You will be requested to set a new password for this account and to re-confirm the same password.
There are no minimum security requirements for this password as the authentication process is enhanced with 2-factor authentication (2FA) - see later/below
3. Enter your credentials for the first time
As soon as you've set (and confirmed) your password, you'll be rerouted to the iXpole Back Office log on screen.
Follow below steps to successfully complete your first log on:
- enter your username (the username supplied in the "Let's secure your iXpole account!" email = the email address this email was sent to);
- enter your password (the password you have set in step 2)
- leave the Verification code field blank! (by leaving this Verification code blank, the system will know it needs to assist you in setting up the 2-Factor Authentication)
- click
Sign in
.
As iXpole requires a password and a Verification code in order to log into iXpole,
Sign in
will not result in a login. Instead the system will generate a QR-code
4. Install Google Authenticator
The QR code generated in step 3 will help you generate One Time Passwords using Google Authenticator.
So first, you'll have to install Google Authenticator.
You can download Google Authenticator here:
5. Create an iXpole account in Google Authenticator
- Open the Google Authenticator app and click on the
+
sign in the bottom right corner. - Select
Scan QR code
- Using the scanner of the app, scan the QR code generated in step 3. This will create a One Time Password (OTP) Generator within the Google Authenticator app for your iXpole app
6. Logging on to the iXpole Back Office
Once you have successfully completed steps 1 through 5, you are ready to log into iXpole for the first time.
- Go to the iXpole Back Office log on screen
- Fill in your userID and password
- Open Google Authenticator
- Memorise the OTP displayed by Google Authenticator for your iXpole account
- Type in the OTP in the log on screen (under Verification code)
- Click
Sign In
- You will now be logged on to iXpole
Note:The Verification code is a one-time password and can only be used once. It will become invalid after about one minute. If you fail to log in, simply wait until your OTP-generator generates a new pin code. For more information on one-time passwords and OTP-generators, read this article.
