Before you can create or configure Hospitality Formulas you have to make sure the different elements on which these Hospitality Formulas rely, have been created and configured correctly.

After reading this article you will understand the concept of BOM - Bill Of Materials

Let's get you started.

A BOM (Bill Of Materials) is a list of underlying products that compose another product. In other words, some products consist of underlying products. These underlying products will be listed in the Bill of Materials (BOM)

There are 2 main scenarios when we advise using a BOM

  1. Using a BOM for VAT splitting purposes
  2. Using a BOM for a packaged product

1. Using a BOM for VAT Splitting purposes.

In order to correctly calculate the VAT rate of the total service and to correctly supply the VAT Amounts to the invoicing system, iXpole will apply a BOM to the total service.

This is typically used for VIP Hospitality services, where part of the price of the Hospitality will be represented by the ticket, another part by the Food etc...

In below example the Hospitality Formula will be composed of 4 different underlying products:
  • Food at a VAT rate of 12%
  • Beverages at a VAT rate of 21%
  • Tickets at a rate of 6%
  • Experience at a VAT rate of 21%

In iXpole, the proportion of the different products in a BOM are expressed as a percentage and not as an absolute number.

Thanks to the BOM, you just have to configure the overall price Ex. VAT (400€) and iXpole will calculate the correct VAT amount, using the VAT rates on the one hand and the proportional weight of each underlying product in the BOM.

2. Using a BOM for a packaged product

An interesting example of a BOM for a packaged product could be the creation of an 'Away VIP Formula', e.g. when your team is playing a European away game. Some clubs invite their business partners on a business trip to the foreign destination at a packaged price. The packaged price could then be composed of:
  • Shuttle service
  • Airfare
  • Hotel
  • Matchday VIP formula
  • luncheons and dinners
Each of these products could be subject to a different vAT rate or not.
