A BOM consists of different underlying products. In iXpole their importance is weighed using a percentage instead of absolute numbers.
After reading this article you will understand why iXpole weighs the importance of the BOM components with a percentage
Here is why.
Below is a typical example of a BOM for a Hospitality Formula.
In the third column we have specified the weight of the underlying product in the overall BOM. You wil notice this is expressed in a percentage. Why is this?
The reason is very simple.
In the sponsorship and VIP hospitality business it is not uncommon to negotiate discounts. In this case the iXpole user will overwrite the total price of the Hospitality Formula with a new price.
If you were to specify absolute prices for each underlying product, iXpole would not know how to project this discount on the underlying products.
Using a percentage however, iXpole will subtract the discount amount from the total amount and thus apply the discount to each underlying product in the same proportion as its weight in the total BOM.
