After reading this document you will understand the Calendar related terminology, required to further dive into the correct configuration of te platform. you will not only understand te terminology, but also the relationship between te different concepts.

Let's get you started

Here is an overview of the different terms used in iXpole

Calendar Item
A Calendar Item is either a Match or an Event that has been configured in iXpole. In the Calendar view you will see these Matches and Events grouped per Subscription or Series.

Match
A Match is a Calendar Item for which we will have to configure an opponent in iXpole and that will most likely be part of a specific calendar type in which a team competes.
A Match is what is typically used by a football club, rugby club or any other teamsport club to manage their sports calendar.

Event
an Event will be any type of Calendar Item that is not a Match. There will be no configuration of an opponent. It is possible however to configure an Organiser or ArtistEvents can be
  • sports related: a World Championship of any sports, a specific sports event, like a multi-day tennis tournament, a series of cycling events, ...)
  • entertainment related: a concert, a performance of a comedian, ...
  • any other type of event you can imagine: a business networking event; an organised group travel with business partners, a New Year's reception, ...
Calendar Type
Almost uniquely used for the Calendar Items of the type Match. A calendar type, as configured in iXpole, represents a grouping of Calendar Items (typically Matches). A calendar type will be linked to a specific (seat or parking) ticket layout, so that all matches, that are linked to that calendar type will use -by default- this specific ticket layout.
On a more advanced level, the concept of a calendar type also serves to transfer price settings across seasons.

Subscription
A Subscription, as configured in iXpole, represents a grouping of Matches that have certain settings in common. The main purpose of creating a Subscription is to allow the configuration of prices for this grouping of Matches.
In the default Calendar view, Matches will be grouped per Subscription.
Subscriptions will be linked to Calendar types so that Matches that are part of a Calendar type can inherit the characteristics of the Calendar type.

Series
A Series is the Event counterpart of the Subscription. The concept Series, as configured in iXpole, represents a grouping of Events that have certain settings in common.

Pack
A Pack is a grouping of 1 or more Calendar Items and/or one or more Subscriptions. Packs allow you to create any group of Calendar Items together, put a specific price on it and market it individually.
More concretely: Packs are typically used by sports clubs to group Matches into a logical and marketable concept. Typical Packs:
  • All-in - if you want your Partners to be able to by some sort of Subscription that gives them tickets for all Matches, across all Competitions
  • Derby - when you group all Matches against Opponents of surrounding cities into one marketable mini-subscription.
  • Combined - often used when you want customers to only be able to buy tickets to top Matches if they buy them in combination with less popular Matches
Event Template
With an Event Template you will not have to recreate an event every time from scratch. You can create an Event Template to get you started quickly. In this Template you will configure all functional aspects of the event: the Venue, the Planning, Email settings, Ticket Sales Rules, Hospitality, ...

Whenever you need to create a new event, you can decide to start from the Template. This way the majority of your configuration is pre-completed.

If you combine a Template with a Styling, creating a new VIP Booker is really only a matter of minutes.

note: templates can only be created for calendar items of the type Event
