Configuring Pre-Event Handlers

A Pre-Event Handler checks a selected action before it completes. It can call a URL with event data or evaluate a response query and show a failure message.

In this article you will learn how to configure a Pre-Event Handler

Add a Pre-Event Handler

  1. Open Admin >> Workflow and click Add in Pre-Event Handlers.
  2. Choose the Action to check and enter a Description.
  3. If the handler should run only for certain records, enter a Filter query that returns one boolean field named value.
  4. For a URL-based handler, leave Pre event handler query type clear and enter its Url.
  5. For a query handler, select Pre event handler query type, enter a Response query, and write the Message shown when the query condition fails.
  6. Set Active and click Save.

Verify the behavior

Test the selected action with a safe record that should pass and one that should fail. A URL-based handler sends the action data to the configured endpoint. A query handler uses its response query to decide whether to return success or the configured message.

To change a handler, select it in the Pre-Event Handlers list. Use the active control to disable it when necessary. Integration-managed system handlers show an informational message and cannot be edited in this dialog.

Note The filter and response queries affect whether a user can complete an action. Have the query reviewed and test both outcomes before enabling the handler.
